Take A Turn At The Physical Therapy Tables And Get Relief For Your Strained Muscles

It was a long journey of going to the bathroom and back but you made it. For someone who did not think that walking can even be possible, those few steps were precious. You are seventy five years old and you are relearning how to walk just like a toddler. You are well past self-recriminations since the accident. You slid on the wet bathroom floor and were left lying there for hours. Your fierce independence died with a defiant whimper when you could not pick yourself up off the floor and you were alone. Help came in the form of your cleaning lady. By the time she came, you were terribly cold and all you kept saying were the words doctor and hospital. Time flew by like a blur. You were diagnosed with a hip fracture. You were so scared that you will be bedridden for the rest of your life. Your doctors assured you that if you agreed to hip replacement surgery, you can stand and walk again. You agreed. As soon as you were able, you were encouraged to move about. Knowing that you were not good as new, you were afraid to move even if you wanted to. Your physical therapist helped you conquer your fear of mobility. When you were brought to the rehabilitation facility, you were curious about at the contraptions and the physical therapy tables. You were further amazed by the people using them. Old and young, people were on the move. You were in a place that called a body into action.
You were here for a purpose. Your goal is to walk again. You were wheeled to one of the physical therapy tables and the therapist briefed you on your rehabilitation plan. You started out with minute movements that progressed to repetitive stretching and pulling. Soon enough, you were standing but can only do so for short periods of time. You tried different kinds of standing tables and found an adjustable one that helped you last longer in the standing position without keeling over. When it was time for the physical therapy tables, you sigh with relief as the therapist eased your strained and pulled muscles. Slow and steady wins the race. Despite the challenge to your patience, you intend to win.
You moved to an assisted living facility for senior citizens. Your therapist visits you there regularly with his portable physical therapy tables and devices in tow. Your birthday gift to your self is an unaided trip to the bathroom from the kitchen and back. Your independence is rearing its head once again but this time you know better to temper it with wisdom and plain common sense.
